One road in Newbury, West Berkshire, started melting – causing traffic chaos for one unlucky bin lorry.
The lorry sunk up to its wheels as the road’s tarmac began to melt, leaving the driver stranded.
Thames Valley Police said the lorry had “sunk” in the hot weather.
A crane had to be deployed to remove the lorry from the road.
Others on the road driving behind the lorry said they were thrown forward as the truck stopped suddenly, the report added.
Engineers were called in to check if the hole in the road had been caused by the extreme heat and rising temperatures.
UK’s road’s are not designed to sustain extreme heat.
